SENIORS NEED MORE SMALL FOOTPRINT HOMES TO RENT

SMALL FOOTPRINT HOMES (weehomes.org) is a campaign prompting the building of more small footprint affordable homes for seniors to rent (our usage of WEE refers to SMALL):

• We prompt councils etc to stay actively engaged earmarking and releasing suitable sites to build more small footprint affordable homes (40-50 square metres) for seniors to rent (with construction costs financed through rents rather then rates).

• We intend to share design and cost details of small footprint affordable homes suitable for seniors to rent (thanks to design and construction professionals volunteering their expertise in Taranaki, NZ). Although we are primarily focused on dilivering more affordable small footprint homes for seniors to rent, the same homes will appeal to singles and couples of all ages (to either buy or rent).

• We gather together citizens concerned about the rental housing difficulties faced by a growing number of seniors.

• We are focused on delivering more small footprint affordable homes for seniors to rent in Taranaki, NZ, but our work will also attract be of interest much further afield.

The below small footprint designs were the starting point for design and construction professionals in Taranaki, NZ who have offered to volunteer their expertise.
